Hugh Champion Managing Director, Wholesale and Direct
Hugh began in the industry in 1969 with Holmwood, Back & Manson and spent time learning their many different classes of business; he left to join Anderson Finch Villiers Limited’s Professional Indemnity division in 1972 and then joined Stenhouse Marketing Service Limited within their Contractors All Risks division. For two years from 1974 Hugh worked at V.A.P.D’Entreves, a reinsurance treaty broker in Milan. Who specialised in marine, non marine and aviation.

In 1976 he returned to London to join Blackwell Green, becoming a Director in 1980 and in 1988 became Chairman. In 1996 Blackwell Green was sold to Lowndes Lambert PLC, who became Heath Lambert Group, where Hugh continued his career as the Managing Director of the Heath Lambert Facilities Division.

In 2007 Hugh joined RFIB Group Limited, was appointed to the main board and in September 2008 became Managing Director of RFIB Group – Non Marine, later renamed Wholesale & Direct. In addition to this he heads up the Specialities team overseeing the development and expansion of the Group’s binding authority portfolio and is a fluent Italian speaker.
