John joined RFIB Marine in 1985, having spent 13 years before then transacting Marine Reinsurance at CT Bowring Re and Willis Faber. At RFIB John has developed business principally in South Africa, South America, Japan and Eastern Europe, and has also helped develop certain commodity accounts and the political risks insurance connected with them. At present he is concentrating on developing RFIB’s interests in the CIS, principally Russia. He is chairman of RFIB Russia Ltd and a member of the Lloyd’s market steering group for the Lloyd’s event in Russia in May 2010, and was involved in the creation of the RFIB broking JV entity in Russia, Anglo Russian Insurance Broker.
